In-Laws

Well, it has been a busy last few days, with Thanksgiving and all. And I just smashed my thumb in between the dishwasher and a drawer, so typing is very difficult. Wayne's dad found out that he has skin cancer yesterday, which shouldn't have been as surprising to me as it was because he has had the possibility of it a few times. They took him in for surgery to cut out the infected fatty tissue in his cheek, in hopes that they will get all of it and won't have to resort to things like chemotherapy. Just the word "cancer" makes me nervous, and to have it in our immediate family makes it worse. I love my father-in-law very much, he holds the family together when we are mad at each other, which happens at least once or twice a year, for one reason or another! So I decided to dedicate this blog to my in-law family! I love my own parents very much, and talk to them 4 or 5 times a day, but they live in Phoenix and we don't get to see them very often. I am glad to have Wayne's family living so close. I feel like I have been adopted into their family. It is hard to imagine not having them as family, I really don't remember not having them in my life. It is really nice to know that I could call any one of my husband's family members with a problem and they would rush over. They are very supportive and loving. They help each other out, even when you don't want to be saved :) Other than a few choice friends that I try to hang on to, they are my social life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my husband more than he can imagine, but his family is the icing on the cake. I am very grateful for them. So, here's to my in-laws the Salmond-Heiner-Anderson Family! Cheers!

Some days church is too hard with 3 boys!

Well, as I have mentioned before, Wayne and I are both in our ward choir. And on Sunday we had a choir performance, so we had to be to church by 10:15, which shouldn't be that hard except we were up until 11:00 on Saturday night playing Rock Band at Tom and Julie's house. So we drag ourselves and our 3 boys to church and practice until 5 minutes to 11, and as we sit down I realize that we had pulled out the pork roast but hadn't started it cooking, so Wayne went home to put it on before our song and took Shad with him. Well, when he came back to sacrament meeting Shad had peed his pants. I told Wayne that I had brought a change of pants for Shad (he is still having a few accidents when I am not around to remind him to go on the toilet) but I had not had time to grab underwear. So Wayne took Shad out and put the new pants on him with nothing underneath. Well we made it through sacrament meeting and we all went to our classes. About 20 minutes into Sunday school, Tanner has diarrhea and I have to leave to go change him. Ten minutes after I get back, one of the nursery leaders comes in and asks one of us to come with her, and since I was holding Tanner, Wayne volunteers. So, class ends and relief society begins, but Wayne has not come back, even for his scriptures. I had brought a bottle for Tanner but the only thing we had to put in the bottle was red koolaid, so I let him drink it in relief society when he started getting fussy and when he was done I put it on the floor, well apparently he got a hold of it and was playing with it on the seat in front of me. I really didn't think anything of it until the lady who had been sitting there came back and sat in the seat next to that one. I decided I didn't want to put anyone else out and stood up to grad him and found that he had been splattering koolaid on the seat, oops! So I took the bottle and then put him on the floor. 5 minutes later, Tanner was in the isle next to me and of course he up chucks the RED koolaid in a big pile on the floor. There was no one there to leave Tanner with so I picked him up and raced to the bathroom to get some paper towels to clean up the barf. While I was wiping it up, Tanner diarrheas once again!! At this point I decide I am done. After I change him I go outside to get in the van and it is gone. I assumed that what ever happened with Shad helped Wayne decide to go home so I made a call home and found out that Shad had pooped his pants and with no underwear on it had come down the leg and onto the floor. Well the lady that was in nursery was the bishop's wife and she had asked the bishop to sit with Shad so that no more would come out of his pants. And his wife mentions that Shad had no diaper on and no underwear, which they had thought was weird. Wayne was too embarrassed to explain what had happened and just grabbed Shad and pinched off his pants around his ankles and walked out the door!! Needless to say, we all went home, and poor Liam, who was having fun in primary had to go with us. I sure hope this doesn't become a regular thing on Sunday

Halloween

So, I decided to post my boys in their Halloween costumes, because everyone else put pictures of their kids on their blog and I am beginning to feel left out, so here are some Halloween pictures! And as you can tell my boys are my heros!

Tag your it!

Here's a game of tag. And now it is my turn to tag people so here it goes: Cassidy, Julie, Connie, Katie F., and Katie S. (I love having 2 Katie's in my life :) Thanks Anne!
*What is your husband's name? Wayne Robert Salmond
*How long have you guys been married? We have been together for 5 years, but married 4

*How long did you date? wow, how to answer that? Well, I know we have been on dates!

*How old is he? 28, just barely!
*Who is taller? He is by an inch and a half, thank goodness

*Who can sing the best? Well, we are both in choir, so I will say we can each pull our own, but I like to hear him more

*Who is smarter? Oh, Wayne by far, but I have helped with my share of his homework so I claim some of that knowledge!

*Who pays the bills? I do
*Who does the laundry? I do, and hopefully we will be able to hook up our dryer soon, well I have to give credit to my sisters-in-law who dry my clothes every now and then, thanks Katie and Julie!

*Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? you know, I depends on the day, Wayne likes to change where he sleeps, so I could end up anywhere on the bed!
*Who mows the lawn? well, I did water it this summer, for the few months that I could, but we have not mowed yet, we hope it will spread and be thicker next year, actually the neighbor came over once and did it for us

*Who cooks dinner? I usually do, but the kids favorite meal is crapes and that is Wayne's dish, so he gets his fair share of cooking in.

*Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? I am but I usually sad it mad so it doesn't fix the fight
*Who kissed who first? Have you met my husband, he definitely did, but he asked first
*Who wears the pants? Most of the time I have to because Wayne just doesn't care what happens, but every now and then he will put his foot down and I lose
Have fun blogging!

Well, it was that time of the year again to take pictures of the grand kids for grandma Salmond. So the family got together not only for that picture but for a Salmond family picture and I wanted to take some of our family, because we haven't had a good family picture since Tanner had been born. We had Tom and Julie's kids in red, my kids in white and Steve and Cassidy's kids in blue. We also told the rest of the family to dress nice and no t-shirts. It seems so organized! Right up until we started taking pictures. I had my kids in white t-shirts, what was I thinking, and we were at a park. I spent the first 30 minutes yelling at Liam and shad to not get their shirts dirty before the pictures. Then we put all of the kids together for the picture. Hahaha! That was the craziest 10 to 15 minutes we have had in awhile. Kids crying, running around. We kept trying to get them to sit, but most of them didn't want to. I tried singing, but the only ones that even cared were my Shad and Liam! Next, Julie and I started making high pitched screaming noises, which got the kids attention and they all looked at us, but they weren't smiling. So we cut our loses and decided we would pick from what we had. So, now that the kids are all riled up, lets take the big family picture (OK it sounded OK at the time). We got to the point that we just had grandma Salmond snapping picture and hoped for a good one. I think we will have to crop heads to get everyone looking at the camera. But, we accomplished grandma Salmond's Christmas present for another year. Thank Goodness!!

Towing Extravaganza

My brother in law and sister in law (referred to by name in the rest of the blog) just bought a new car because their Suzuki broke. They had driven it to the parents house and wanted to tow it to my house to store it and do the repairs (eventually). They had asked me to tow it with my van, mostly because that is how we got our mustang here (wow, that makes it sound like we have a lot of cars here,..... OK we do!). The only tow strap we had on us was a 6 foot rope and it took a full foot to try to hook it to my van, which does not have a tow package on it or anything close to it. So, here I am driving along in the van with john in the Suzuki, 5 feet behind me! And katie following behind him. It was a normal towing experience (which means my heart was racing trying to anticipate any problems and lead the way, I hate making decisions that might come back to bite me) until we reached the four way stop. I will type my point of view and you will need to check john and katie's blog to read their side. I am driving and see the stop sign coming. I started slowing down really early like I would for a light just in case it changed or to save having to stop completely. And I realize the we are 30 feet from the stop sign going 5 miles an hour. That was probably unnecessary! So I get to the stop sign and allow pretty much every one to go before I do. I SLOWLY start moving forward, mostly to avoid whiplash from the tow rope not being tight, and I notice a biker on my left in the lane coming up to the stop sign, and I thought " he has to stop just like a car if he is driving on the road", so I keep slowly moving forward. And then I see him steering his bike to go around the van and I hear john honking his horn over and over again. Now, one of the rules we set down is that if john honks, I need to stop. So I stopped the very slowly moving van. The next thing I see is the biker try to cut through me and john. OK, that is like 5 feet first off, does he normally cut in between cars that are only 5 feet apart with his bike? And then I remember the TOW ROPE! Now, I had my hazard lights on, my regular lights on and john had both on as well, why that biker didn't see it is beyond me. Next, thing I see is the bike and the biker in the air! Apparently he had clothes lined himself. OH MY GOSH! Immediately john and roll down our window and ask him if he is OK, and all he did was pick up his bike and ride off. I guess he felt pretty dumb at that point, I would. I 'm sure that the cars stopped and the stop sign would think john had hit the biker right up until we drove past with the tow rope in between us! 5 minutes later we got to my house and we all got out of our cars laughing and saying " can you believe that!" It made our day! I hadn't laughed that hard in awhile! Bike carefully please! Or you might feel really dumb! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WAYNE!

Well, another birthday has come for our daddy and husband . He is so very important to us that we decided to tell you our favorite things about him! Liam says " He is so special. I love when he throws me up in my bed at night. He is also very nice to me." Shad likes to go in daddy's car for rides. He also loves to hand daddy nails when he is working outside. Tanner loves his daddy, especially when mommy is having a bad day! I love Wayne, he has been so good to me. I don't think I could ever have a better companion. He has helped me become a better person and mother. He never tells me that I am doing wrong he only encourages me to do better. I wish I could be more like him. He does all of our home repairs and car repairs by him self ( with a little help from us and his family). And he seems to be able to fix anything. He asked me one day about a year ago why I wasn't impressed that he had fix an appliance, and I told him that up to this point he has fixed almost everything he had tried to fix, so I just assumed he would fix the appliance. Well, this day would not be complete without some silly stories about Wayne when he was little, straight from his mother's mouth! When Wayne was about 3 he would not respond to his name, he had a new name he wanted to be called each day, for example, one day he would only respond to Mikey mo (which they later learned was mickey mouse!) and the next day he would only respond to Plumber Paul. Each day he had a new name for himself, and if you called him Wayne he would tell you " I am not Wayne, I am Painter pete!" Wayne had decided by the age of 4 that he wanted to grow up to be a diesel truck, not the truck driver, the truck! I think it would be hard to be married if he was a truck, though long trips would be easier! Wayne was given a set of bowling pins one Christmas and would not part with them, not even to go to bed, so his mother would tuck in Wayne and his bowling pins each night. That bed was very crowed for awhile! And for one from me. We were both in bed and Wayne had been snoring. I finally decided I was done and tried to wake him up. He rolled over and opened his eyes for a second, and I said "are you asleep?" He said "probably". I thought, what is that supposed to mean? So I said "you are snoring honey". He said "just imagine that you are on the freeway ". :) That is the man I love! We love you honey and hope you have an awesome birthday. And that the Utes win on Saturday so that your present of going to the game is totally awesome too!

I finally got my house picked up today for the first time in almost a week. Now if I can just get the cleaning done! I decided that we needed to have a cute picture of each of the boys, so I picked out my favorites! It is amazing to me how different they look from each other. Tanner is doing very well with sleeping through the night, which is nice for me :) He had a tooth come through on the bottom this weekend, and I think there are 3 or 4 more on their way. Shad is having a blast playing games on the nick Jr. web site. He has figured out the computer. He even closes any windows that might pop up, even if they are important! Liam is reading books that amaze me. He has really started to pick up on it. He still gets frustrated if he gets a word wrong but loves to read to us when it is right. We were singing "I love to see the temple", practicing for his primary program and after we were done he said " did you feel the holy spirit when you went to the temple?" I told him yes and he said " that is so cool, I want to go the temple too!" That tugs at my heart strings. He is a good boy. Wayne and I are excited to go to the University of Utah football game on Saturday. We are big fans and love to watch football, we also will be without kids for 7-8 hours (sorry John and Katie, but thank you). We are loving life and loving that it is calming down for a little while. Love you!

Shower Time

So I know I was complaining about Tanner last time, so this morning I decided I would talk about how cute he is. Right up until I got in the shower! I could hear him crying and thought "I will hurry and then I can pick him up". The next thing I know the shower curtain is pulled out of the bath tub and theres his cute little face looking up at me, and he has water running down his face and shirt. I CAN'T EVEN GET AWAY IN THE SHOWER! He is so cute and such a hand full. I love him a lot, but I love him more when he is good! Shad hasn't had any accidents in almost a week, he is doing better than Liam. Liam actually begs to do his homework! If I put it off too long I hear about it. I hope it stays that way, it will make his high school years a lot easier on me! (and maybe on him too) Love you

I need my nap time!

Tanner usually takes a nap in the morning and the afternoon, but today he skipped his morning nap. I seem to get frustrated alot easier when i dont get that time away from him needing to be held all of the time. He is always cuter after a good nap, and a good nap for him is up to 3 hours long. I feel more refreshed and I get more done around the house. My home has been suffering the last few days because of tanner. I am slowly catching up on it, or I was! Our furnace stopped working a few days ago, that is so much fun. So I have a repairman here fixing it. You will never guess why it doesn't work, Shad has put rocks down the exhaust. Weird, my son wouldn't do that. So he is doing well with potty training but not with staying out of trouble! He is fun to have around, I just have to stay on my toes. Liam is doing very well with his reading. He is really starting to love it. He was given 25 spelling words for friday and he spelled everyone correct the first time! He is amazing. Wayne is doing very well in school and can't wait to have it over with! Love you guys!
